Veladero Gold Mine

At an altitude of 4,200 meters above sea level, Veladero Mine is located in the Andean Mountains in North-Western Argentina close to the Chilean border. The mineral stockpile had to be covered as it was generating a lot of dust which was affecting mining operations as well as contaminating nearby communities, flora and fauna. One of the peculiarities of the design of this 57 meter diameter dome, is that the conveyor which comes in through the side, is supported by the dome apex and not external support towers.
