San Juan, Argentina 2005
At an altitude of 4,200 meters above sea level, Veladero Mine is located in the Andean Mountains in North-Western Argentina close to the Chilean border. This was Triodetic’s first Argentinian project.
The mineral stockpile had to be covered because it was generating a lot of dust which was affecting mine operations as well as contaminating nearby communities, flora and fauna. One of the peculiarities of the design of this 57 metre diameter dome, is that the conveyor which comes in through the side, is supported by the dome apex and not external support towers.
