Tacna, Peru 2015
The Toquepala Mine is situated in the Andes Mountains at 3,220 meters above sea level, in the Southernmost Region of Peru, bordering Bolivia and Chile. This was Triodetic’s first project in Peru, two domes of 115 meters and 75 meters in diameter respectively.
The topography of the site presented a design, engineering and installation challenge for the project: The 115 meter dome had to be built along the side of the mountain, with a stepped foundation, meaning that up to ring 11 one side of dome’s wall was the actual side of the mountain. From ring 11 up to the apex, the full steel circumference of the dome was enclosed and completed.
In 2021 Triodetic will inaugurate its second project in Peru and its largest dome to date a few kilometers north of Toquepala Mine.
